There’s plenty to catch the eye at eclectic sale

-

CLARKS’ sale on the last day of September is typically eclectic. An early 20th century perpetual calendar should easily accommodate its guide of £20-30 whilst a collection of Royal Albert Old Country Roses (£100-150) is hoping to find a new home. Among the furnishings is a green leather Chesterfield wing back chair with a similar button back armchair – it is hoped that these achieve £100-200. A Regency period over mantle mirror ought to make £100-150 while a small 18th century George II mirror with “1749 London A L” carved into the rear of the frame hopes for £100200. An antique mahogany fusee clock (£100-200) & a Victorian upholstered chaise longue (£50-60) are other entries that catch the eye.

A good pair of 19th c. English blue overlay hand cut glass sweetmeat jars would make a fine addition to the Christmas table and hope to make £100-150. Staying with the festive theme, a Victorian Christmas

pudding dish could still make £10-20 despite having a crack. There are numerous Swarovski entries with prices from £20-30 and boxed Corgi toys from just £10 upward. A collection of vinyl LPs including Hendrix & the Beatles ask £50-60 while a collection of Beatles singles go up for sale at just £10-20. A Royal Dux figure carrying a basket asks £80100 but a cannonball from HMS Anson, who saw action in the French Revolutionary & Napoleonic Wars, may prove of interest to militaria collectors. Launched at Plymouth in 1781, HMS Anson was wrecked at Loe

Bar, off Porthleven, in 1807 with the estimated loss of 125 men. Her loss led to the Burial of Drowned Persons Act 1808. A guide of £100-200 is attached. Among the jewellery, a gent’s vintage 1960’s 18ct gold & diamond Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day Date asks £8,000-£10,000 despite a fault with the winder. A large 20th c. silver fruit bowl hopes for £500-600 while a Victorian 9ct gold Albert chain should achieve £300-400. www.clarksauctionrooms.com
