Putin the Bully must be confronted

-

WITH reference to your article re the last bank closing its doors on the Scilly Isles, and banks closing down their branches all around the country... Surely with today’s technology, where transactions can take place all over the world in a matter of seconds, it is not beyond the capability of the major banks to join together and fund the running of one single bank in every town that can deal with most, if not all of the business that they wold normally have if it was their own branch?

Also, it has been reported that due to the war in Ukraine, there is a lack of flour and grain available. Is it not time that the Government started to support our livestock and arable farmers by encouraging them to produce more, by paying them a decent price for their efforts and at the same time start using their fertile green field lands for food rather than covering it with for wind farms, solar panels and littke red brick houses?

While accepting that there will always be a need for more housing, do they always need to be on green field sites, and surely wind farms and solar panels could be placed on land which is not suitable for farming?

And finally, President Putin has been making barely veiled threats to the West over the last few weeks regarding their supply of weapons to Ukraine and has frequently made reference to Russia’s nuclear capability. Is it not time that western leaders and NATO (gently) reminded him that the combined forces of NATO far outweigh his own in men and weapons – which include nuclear arms? He must know that the outcome of any major escalation which would undoubtedly severely damage many NATO countries, particularly in Europe, would result in the almost total elimination of most or all Russian towns and cities?

Bullies need confronting and reminded there is always someone bigger and stronger than them.
