Fitness coach Joe Wicks takes school PE lesson

-

FITNESS guru Joe Wicks has visited a Torquay school on the first leg of his 2022 UK-wide tour funded by the BBC, where he is promoting the importance of physical and mental health.

The Body Coach took a trip down to the Bay on May 2, visiting Warberry Primary School and leading the children through a PE lesson and giving them an assembly talk.

Posting on Instagram, Joe announced he would be visiting seven schools in four days, as well as two community projects that are being funded by Children in Need. Following Torquay, Joe will also be paying a visit to Cardiff, Wolverhampton, Leeds, Manchester and Stockport.

Talking to the children in assembly, Joe said: “In your head, if you’ve got things going on, you can feel a bit down, stressed, you feel anxious, you feel tired, you feel angry – all those feelings can be resolved and kind of helped moved on through exercise, so always use it because it’s a powerful thing that you can use anytime just to relieve some of that energy and come away feeling a bit more positive.

“It’s such an important thing, if you connect that now at a young age you’ll be active as a teenager, you’ll be healthy as an adult and you’ll continue to do it throughout your life, and that’s the most important message that I could share.”

Clips posted to Joe’s social media as well as Children in Need’s Instagram account show him leading a workout for the whole school where they were also joined by Pudsey Bear.

In 2019, Joe was announced as Children in Need’s first-ever Schools Ambassador, a role in which he encourages schools up and down the UK to get together and get active to help change young lives. Talking about his new role, he said: “I am incredibly proud to be BBC Children in Need’s first-ever School’s Ambassador. It really is an honour. As a dad, I am passionate about children’s health, wellbeing and happiness and hope that by inspiring children to get together, and get active, we can make a real and lasting impact.”
