Pottery, glassware and much more
THE team at Plymouth Auction Rooms have been busy preparing for another 500-lot auction next week. The catalogue is bursting with collections of fine silver, Moorcroft pottery, over 100 lots of jewellery and gold, glassware, medals, watches, antique furniture and much, much more.
One of the headline lots in the antiques and collectables auction on Tuesday, March 14 is a rare Royal Mint 2022 Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee gold-proof double sovereign. This will be of great interest to royalists and coin collectors alike and has an estimated value of £1,000-£1,200.
Later in the sale, there are almost 30 lots of collectable coins, (lot 370 - lot 399) including an 1887 two pound gold Victoria Jubilee, mounted as a pendant and a Royal Mint 2020 UK quarter oz proof coin, to celebrate the James Bond movie ‘No Time To Die’ titled ‘Pay Attention 007’. This is expected to sell under the gavel for £400-£500 at auction.
Auctioneer Paul Keen said: “Our Antiques and Collectables sale always attracts objects of interest and there are some absolute gems here!
“From intricate gemstone scent bottles including jade, rose, amethyst and quartz, to 19th-century samplers, there is truly something for everyone at this auction.”
Items with relation to large-scale events always attract interest, and the Titanic is no exception. Coming up for sale next week is a collection of Titanic memorabilia, including a handwritten letter sent just one month after the disaster took place. Lot 335 also includes the book titled ‘The Loss of the Titanic’ written by Lawrence Beesley.
There are also collections of paintings and prints, antique boxes, sculptures, vintage leather suitcases, Asian art and a vast collection of model steam engines.
The sale will take place at 1030am on Tuesday, March 14. All lots can be viewed online at plymouthauctions.co.uk. If you have any questions, please call the team on 01752 254740.
