Preparing for a busy month

-

PLAYING host to two specialist auctions and two valuation days with industry experts, May will certainly be a busy month for the team at Plymouth Auction Rooms.

First in the lineup is the Ewart Johns Studio Sale, taking place on Wednesday, May 3 at 10:30 am. Consisting of over 300 pieces from the lifetime works of British post-war and contemporary artist, Ewart Johns, this auction will be of particular interest to galleries, collectors and those who had a personal connection with the Welsh artist.

The collection is on view now at the saleroom, and the full catalogue can be viewed online.

Later in the month on Monday, May 15, the Auctioneer is holding its Watches Valuation Day with in-house watch specialist, Richard Sheppard. If you’re looking to discover the value of your Rolex, Breitling,

Omega and more, then please call the team to arrange your free auction valuation appointment.

Auctioneer Paul Keen said: “We recently sold an 18ct Gold Rolex Submariner for an impressive £15,000 at our last Fine Jewellery and Watches Auction. Demand for Rolex watches does not seem to be slowing down any time soon!

“Now is a great time to bring your watch in for appraisal, to be consigned to our popular summer auction.”

In preparation for the inaugural Chinese & Asian Works of Art Auction in September, the team are hosting a number of valuation days with a former Sotheby’s specialist.

Previous events have seen some fascinating items come through the saleroom doors, including a rare Ming Dynasty cloisonné enamel and gilt-bronze six-lobed bowl and cover. A similar piece recently sold for over £4,000, so it will be interesting to see how this one fares under the gavel!

Bring along your porcelain, carvings, works of art and all Asian objects for a free appraisal on Thursday, May 18. Suitable entries will be held at the saleroom for inclusion in the specialist auction being held later in the year.

Entries are now open for the Antiques & Collectables Auction, closing a busy month on Tuesday, May 23. This unique auction features a vast array of models, toys, antique furniture, jewellery, gold coins and more. There is truly something for every keen collector.

For more information on any of the events mentioned above, please call the saleroom on 01752 254740, or visit plymouthauctions.co.uk for further details. For item valuations, you can also WhatsApp the team by sending images to 07432 056261.
