BEST OF THE REST
THE PARACHUTE MURDER PLOT
ITV, 9pm
IN a murder attempt so shocking it could be the plot of the latest crime thriller, Emile Cilliers was jailed for life for trying to kill his wife by tampering with her parachute.
It was Easter Sunday 2015 when Victoria Cilliers, a highly experienced parachuting instructor, jumped out of a plane at 4,000 feet, but both her main and reserve parachutes failed and she plummeted to the ground, causing near-fatal injuries.
It later emerged that her husband Emile had tried to kill her, not once, but twice.
His first attempt came a week before her skydive, when he tampered with the gas valve at their home. The plan failed when Victoria smelled the gas and reportedly joked: “Are you trying to bump me off?”
In this documentary, Fiona Bruce interviews officers on the case and gains exclusive access to the police tapes, learning about Emile’s multiple affairs, his accumulating debts and how he used his charm to evade justice.
EAMONN & RUTH: HOW TO GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP Channel 5, 9pm
EAMONN Holmes and Ruth Langsford have problems sleeping. Eamonn exists on as little as four hours a night and Ruth snores. It’s a wonder they manage to look so bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on This Morning.
In this er, eye-opening documentary, the TV couple are on a mission to cure their sleeping disorders. And with more than a third of Brits suffering from sleep-related problems, many may find this helpful as well as fascinating.
Eamonn and Ruth also endeavour to help some of the nation’s worst sleepers, including a lady whose snoring is as loud as a low-flying aircraft.
In this episode, they road test beds worth over £20,000 to see if you get what you pay for.
Ruth joins forces with Jenny whose snoring sends husband Colin to the spare room every night.
And Eamonn meets insomniac Sam Hunter to try out a sleep programme. But will they succeed in their pursuit of a great night’s kip?
