Jee knows Tavistock will be worthy FA Vase opponents for Willand

- BY LEE HALL

Manager Russell Jee says his Willand Rovers side could not have had a tougher draw, after they were paired with Tavistock in the second round of the FA Vase.

The draw took place at Wembley on Monday, when Rovers were handed a home tie on November 3 against Tavistock, runners-up in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division last season.

Willand booked their place in the next round with a 4-1 win at Odd Down last Saturday, thanks to goals from Angus Wilson (two), Luke Mortimore and Brad Ausden. Speaking about the draw, Jee said: “They don’t come much tougher than that. We’re happy to be drawn at home but in the South West region we’ve probably been handed one of the toughest draws possible.

“Tavistock’s squad is full of quality, so it’s going to be a very difficult game for us, but it’s one we’ll look forward to. But that’s not my concern right now – all I am thinking about is the Wellington game on Saturday.”

Jee will welcome back goalkeeper Mike Searle from suspension for this weekend’s Western League Premier Di- vision trip to Somerset, while Craig Duff and Brett Worbey are also in line to return.

Willand were without injured duo Luke Holden and Ben Bickle at the weekend.

Jee said: “Considering we had five players out at the weekend, we did well to go to Odd Down and score four goals. It’s a tough place to go so I was delighted to come away with that result.

“This weekend I have a big headache and I have some huge decisions to make. It’s a nice position to be in, I’d rather be overloaded with players than to be down to the bare bones.”
