ULTIMATE SELFIE IN HIGH-SPEED JET
IT’S an in-flight selfie like no other – the view from the cockpit of a high-speed Hawk jet passing in close formation above the Westcountry.
The Royal Navy jets from RNAS Culdrose’s 736 Naval Air Squadron have been spotted over Cornwall and Devon this week during training.
Hawk jets are two-seater aircraft which can reach speeds of 1028 km/h. An RNAS
Culdrose spokesperson said: “The pilots of these beautifully streamlined training aircraft play the role of the enemy and pretend to attack Royal Navy and NATO ships in the English Channel. This provides excellent training for the ships’ companies to practise their anti-air-attack and anti-missile manoeuvres.
“One pilot even managed a stylish selfie from the cockpit, high above the clouds.”
