Lavender in bloom to welcome back visitors

-

BUCKFAST Abbey has partially reopened its grounds, gardens and facilities to visitors – with special measures in place to keep everyone safe under Covid-19 rules.

One way-systems are in place in some areas and queuing markers in the shop, takeaway restaurant, Abbey Church and pedestrian entrance.

Special signs have been put up with key messages and hand sanitisers are in place at strategic points.

Extra outdoor seating has also been installed and a maximum number of visitors set at 100 across the site.

A spokesman said: “We will be reviewing this number over the days and weeks ahead to reflect government guidance and to ensure we are all safe.

“As we reopen our grounds, gardens and facilities to visitors we would like to draw your attention to the measures we have taken and those we would like you to take when you visit.”

Parts of the site, including seating inside the restaurant, the Monastic Way exhibition, the book shop and Monastic produce shop and the medieval guest hall are closed. The site opens from 10.30am-3.30pm Mon-Sat and 12-3.30pm on Sundays.
