Eight new virus clusters in Cornwall – but eight areas off the list

EIGHT new Covid-10 clusters are reported in Cornwall on the latest map produced to monitor the spread of the disease.

The updated map, which shows areas where there is a cluster of three or more cases, shows the data for September 25 to October 1. Areas with fewer than three cases do not show on the map.

There were 26 new positive tests reported in Cornwall yesteday with eight new areas have appeared on the map in the past 24 hours.

These areas are: Lostwithie­l and Penwithick; Launceston; Altarnun and Stoke Climsland; Shortlanes­end, Chacewater and Carnon Downs; Penryn; Probus and Roseland; St German’s and St Mellion; and St Day and Lanner.

There are existing coronaviru­s clusters still reported in The Lizard, Camborne West, Camborne East,

Camborne South, Illogan and Portreath, Pool and Illogan Highway, Redruth North, Redruth South, Kingsand, Antony and Maryfield, Lanreath, Pelynt and Polraun, St Columb Minor and Porth as well as Saltash Town and Pillmere.

Eight cluster areas are also no longer on the map, meaning cases in those areas are now fewer than three. The areas no longer on the map are Penzance Quay, Falmouth

North, Bodmin West, Roche and Goss Moor, Newquay East, Penzance North and Perranport­h, St Agnes and Mount Hawke and Goonhavern. Nursery and reception aged children at a primary school in Exeter have been told to stay at home after a member of staff tested positive for coronaviru­s.

A single case has been reported at Montgomery Primary School in Redvers Road, St Thomas, Exeter.
