Our ‘Dickens’ style of living needs to stop

-

WELL what else does Mr Layzeill expect!!

Every time the Conservatives get voted in, all we see are changes on all things that help to improve our standard of living.

For instance, the Conservatives brought in that you could have more than one borrower on a mortgage, which meant more money would be made available to borrow, so consequently house prices rose through the roof!

We also saw all council houses being sold off, so that the amount of rented properties available for renting disappeared, thus creating a housing shortage.

Removal of rent control also allowed landlords to charge what they liked and you had to have two incomes at least coming before you could afford to rent.

The introduction of the Single Parent Allowance has also meant that there has been a huge increase in the number of single parent families. Again, requiring public money support in order to keep them.

Selling off the utilities meant an increase in the cost of gas and electricity because the private companies had to make a profit and there were no controls of how they operated.

If we want to move away from ‘Charles Dickens’ style living standards, then we have got to bring back more State-owned facilities and support families.

Firstly, increase the Married Man’s Allowance, restrict mortgages to one wage packet only, remove the present rating system and introduce a local tax on everything so that those spending more pay more.

Unfortunately, it is too late to re-nationalise the utilities but we can restrict the amount of money being lent by the mortgage companies.
