Tesco staff test positive for Covid
A NUMBER of staff at two more Tesco stores in Cornwall are isolating, following positive Covid-19 tests.
It was reported on Monday how several staff members at Carbis Bay Tesco tested positive for the virus. Now, it has been confirmed that cases have been recorded in two more superstores – Launceston and Truro.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “A small number of colleagues at our Truro store have tested positive for Covid-19. Their close contacts have been informed. A colleague at our Launceston store is selfisolating after testing positive for Covid-19.
“The safety of our colleagues, customers and suppliers remains our number one priority and we are working with local public health authorities, following all Government guidance and taking the relevant precautions.
“We have extensive measures across all of our stores to help keep everyone safe, including protective screens at every checkout, social distancing signage and regular cleaning.”
Meanwhile, GWR has said it will continue to run a reduced train service in Devon and Cornwall, following the fresh lockdown in England.
The Westcountry train operator introduced an amended timetable in late December to respond to higher than usual levels of staff either absent or self-isolating, and a drop in demand.
From next Monday, this temporary timetable will continue with some alterations, providing 80% of the operator’s usual, planned timetable.
