Regular offender is sent to jail

A PAIGNTON man with a number of offences to his name has been jailed, after admitting in court to a string of shopliftin­g offences and for carrying a weapon in public, writes Carl Eve.

Michael Binmore, of St Andrew’s Road, Paignton, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for the possession of the lock knife offence and ten weeks for the shopliftin­g.

During his latest hearing at Exeter Crown Court on March 4, the 42-year-old pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and nine counts of shopliftin­g at a number of shops in Paignton between January 14 and February 22 this year.

A Facebook post from Paignton Police said: “Michael Binmore has been jailed for a string of offences committed in Paignton between 14 January and 22 February this year.

“Michael Binmore, aged 42, appeared before Exeter Crown Court on March 4.

“Binmore, of St Andrew’s Road in Paignton, admitted nine counts of shopliftin­g and another of being in possession of a bladed article,” the police added.

“He was sentenced to 12 weeks in Prison for the possession of the lock knife offence and 10 weeks for the shopliftin­gs,” Paignton police concluded.

The past offender has previous conviction­s for shopliftin­g dating back to 2012, when he was fined for threatenin­g a female shop worker and stealing whiskey and vodka.

In 2018, Binmore was handed a 16-week jail sentence, which suspended for 12 months, for stealing fresh meat from a Sainbury’s store in Paignton.
