Lib Dem party has lost its marbles

-

IF any evidence that the Lib Dems have lost their marbles is needed then your recent front page story about “councillor kicked out of the Lib Dems” provides it.

I have known Cllr Adam Paynter for some years. He is a hard working councillor who is a good advert for the Lib Dems.

As far as I can see, his treatment is due to a technical e-mail issue and certainly does not merit the high handed action of suspension by the Lib Dem party hacks, who regrettably have far too much influence in the party these days.

I have had the same experience of being suspended by the Lib Dems, although I am the only Lib Dem County Councillor who ever to date led the Lib Dems to victory at Devon County Council elections, in 1993/1997/2005.

I hoped that I might have enjoyed support from the party while I strove to clear my name. No – I was shown the door. No gratitude for all I had done for the Lib Dems over many years.

The same was true for our former chief executive Sir Nick Harvey, who was pushed out of office by the disastrous wee lassie from Scotland who led the party to a very poor result at the last general election.

I know Sir Ed Davey and approve of him. If he wants to rescue the Lib Dems from the near oblivion they currently have he would be well advised to clear the party hacks out of the Lib Dems and overturn the suspension of Cllr Adam Paynter forthwith.

As to my suspension by the Lib Dems, there is no way I want to be a member of a party that allows party hacks to suspend people like Adam Paynter. I do not want to be associated with such people!
