Fornah grateful to Pilgrims for giving him an opportunity

-

MIDFIELDER Tyrese Fornah has admitted he felt right at home at Plymouth Argyle during his sevenmonth loan spell from Championship club Nottingham Forest.

Fornah has thanked everyone at Argyle for treating him like one of their own in a message on social media site Twitter.

The 21-year-old signed for the Pilgrims at the start of October and went on to make a total of 39 starts and five substitute appearances.

Fornah was primarily used by manager Ryan Lowe in a midfield holding role throughout the campaign.

However, his final game for the Pilgrims saw him switch to central defence.

He moved from midfield in the early stages of the season-ending 1-0 defeat away to Gillingham yesterday after Kell Watts was stretchered off.

After getting so much League One experience with Argyle, Fornah is now likely to be given a chance to prove himself at Forest by boss Chris Hughton.

Fornah posted a two-part tweet yesterday which read: “I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at the club, the staff, to the fans also my team-mates for having so much faith and trust in me and what I can do, and also by the way everyone at the club and the fans have treated like one of their own.

“I will forever be grateful to this club, staff, fans and my team-mates there for everything they’ve done.

“I hope this club goes on to achieve big things because this club is built for this so I just wanted to sign out by saying all the best.”

Fornah was one of five loan signings at Argyle over the second half of the season.

The others were Adam Lewis (Liverpool), Jerome Opoku (Fulham), Watts (Newcastle United), and Sam Woods (Crystal Palace).

The midfield holding role at Argyle next season could be filled by 20-year-old academy graduate Adam Randell.

He has impressed during his season-long loan spell at National League leaders Torquay United.

His consistent performances for Gary Johnson’s Gulls earned him a new deal with the Pilgrims until the summer of 2022.

He will return to Argyle for next season with the prospect of challenging for a first team place.
