Lowe wants an apology for error

RYAN Lowe did not attach any blame on defender Brendan Galloway over the penalty incident that cost Plymouth Argyle a victory over Lincoln City.

Anthony Scully scored a 90th minute spot kick equaliser for the Imps, earning them a 2-2 draw, after referee Andy Woolmer ruled that Galloway had fouled Lasse Sorensen inside the box.

However, Lowe described that as ‘the wrong decision’ from the experience­d match official, and TV replays showed that contact was made just outside the 18-yard area.

The Pilgrims’ boss wants an apology for Woolmer, an EFL referee since 2004, after the key decision went against his side.

Had Argyle held onto their 2-1 lead, they would have been joint top of League One with Wigan Athletic, and even after drawing with Lincoln they still moved up one position to third.

Galloway was all set to be their matchwinni­ng hero after putting them ahead for the second time in the game with a 74th minute volley until the late spot kick drama.

The Pilgrims’ defender initially made a good tackle on Lincoln’s Ted Bishop but the ball spun to Sorensen on the rain-soaked pitch and Galloway made a lunging challenge on him.

It was a foul, but should have been a free-kick not a penalty. Scully then slotted past Argyle ‘keeper Mike Cooper to salvage a point for his side.

Lowe had viewed the incident on video before he gave his assessment of the incident to the media, and planned to talk to Woolmer aftewards.
