Coast-to-coast walk for World Mental Health Day

-

A CORNISH mental health organisation is organising a mammoth charity coast-to-coast walk to mark World Mental Health Day.

A team of staff members from Pentreath Ltd will be joined by former and current clients as well as some external agencies who support the organisation for the challenge. It will see them tackling the 27-mile journey along the entire length of The Saints’ Way from Padstow to Fowey.

World Mental Health Day falls on Sunday, October 10, this year and the walkers will set off on their ultramarathon distance relay trek the following day, October 11.

Participants can either tackle the whole route or join smaller groups of walkers who will tackle six to eight-mile sections of the journey.

Katie Mutton, an advisor from Pentreath Ltd who is coordinating the event, said: “Approximately one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year and this pandemic has proven to be a struggle for many people. We just want the people of Cornwall to know that we’re still here to provide help.

“We’d like make it clear that you do not need to go via a doctor or other specialist to get help from Pentreath, you can simply self-refer by giving us a call or by visiting our website to download a referral.

“We’re pleased to be promoting World Mental Health Day with #WalkingYourWay again, this time stomping from Cornwall’s north to south coast in a day.

“We’ve marked this occasion in recent years with our Walking Your Way initiative with groups enjoying walks along the coastal footpath in various parts of the county. It seems fitting as we accompany those we support on their own personal journey, much like a walk.”

Those wishing to take part in the walk can do so by contacting Pentreath on 01726 862727 or email: walkingyourway@pentreath.co.uk. To donate online, please visit: https:// fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/ walking-your-saints-way
