Half term half price offer for Patriots

- STUART JAMES stuart.james@reachplc.com

PLYMOUTH City Patriots head coach Paul James has thanked the city’s basketball fans for getting behind the new club – and they are being rewarded with ‘half term, half price’ tickets for tonight’s BBL Cup clash with Surrey Scorchers.

It has certainly been a whirlwind few months for the club, with basketball in the city looking dead after the Plymouth Raiders were forced to withdraw their franchise with the BBL. But a new club was formed by Carl Heslop, James was appointed head coach, having been in charge of the Raiders, and supporters and sponsors have rallied round to help the club in its infancy.

Now, the club are keen to thank fans and entice new ones with a ‘half term, half price’ offer that will hopefully swell the attendance for tonight’s match-up with the Scorchers. Adults can be admitted for as little as £7.90, while a child’s ticket is just £3.90, with admission prices including booking fees.

“We have the half term, half price promotion, so we are hoping to get a good crowd in there tomorrow… you forget how spectacular it is playing at the Pavilions with the atmosphere and the game night experience – it is second to none,” James said.

“That really does spur the boys on to play even harder, so hopefully it will be a good crowd and I hope they can cheer us through to our first win.

“The old ‘Raiders’ fans have been absolutely amazing, but they are basketball fans first and foremost. They are Plymouth basketball fans, it is great to see a lot of the old faces there and a lot of new faces as well, people that have never been to a game before, who then don’t understand why they’ve never been to a game before because they have had such an amazing time.”

Tickets for tonight’s game, which tips off at 7pm, are available from the Plymouth Pavilions website.
