Dorset County Show makes return

-

THE Dorset County Show will make its much-anticipated return later this year after a pandemicenforced hiatus, writes Athwenna Irons.

Last held in 2019, the two-day event will be held at its usual location at Dorchester Showground on September 3-4.

For more than 180 years, the Dorchester Agricultural Society has arranged the county show and is preparing to welcome another 60,000 visitors this year, who will be able to enjoy a full programme of events. Attractions across the two days include the main ring at Cokers Frome, 500 trade stands, and 6,000 exhibits from a variety of sections including; livestock, horses, homecraft and horticulture.

Nicki Ralph, chair of the Dorchester Agricultural Society, said: “We’re delighted to announce the Dorset County Show is back this year. We’ll see the return of all the major attractions the show is known and loved for, such as cattle and livestock, sheep shearing, vintage tractors, show jumping, shopping, and plenty of good food and drink. It’s important to the society that the show continues to offer great value for money and appeals to people of all ages and walks of life. Attractions such as the live music in the Countryside Area, the fun fair, local artisans’ tent, as well as the Fabulous Food and Farming learning zone , make ideal family entertainment. We hope to see lots of new visitors this year.”

The show takes place on September 3-4 and ‘Early Bird’ tickets go on sale later this month. Children under 16 enjoy free entry.
