Levelling Up: breathing new life into communities across the UK
THIS RADICAL NEW REGENERATION PROGRAMME IS ALREADY BENEFITING COMMUNITY PROJECTS IN YOUR AREA
The Government’s plan – to make every single part of the UK a place to be proud of – is an ambitious one. But with £4.8bn of funding being invested into communities across the UK, life is already improving for many people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
As the UK comes out of a tough two years, Levelling Up will make sure areas that have been in decline become places where people love to live. It’s a carefully targeted strategy, with local leaders working together with the UK Government and private sector to make sure their area gets what they need.
Residents who feel like their home town is falling short at the moment will benefit from the plan, with regeneration and renewal on the agenda.
Better prospects
The country is full of talented people but they don’t all get the opportunities they deserve. One of the aims of the Levelling Up plan is to improve everybody’s chances of getting on in life. That starts with education, so it’s one of the areas the Government is investing in. Colleges and universities are already hotbeds of talent and further investment will help them to prosper. Another important part of the plan is to make sure people have access to training so they can learn the skills they need to boost their career prospects. And with an investment in industry comes the creation of thousands of new jobs.
Transport and communication are key areas too – and the Government is already rolling out super-fastgigabit broadband, to which the majority of the country will have access by 2025. Millions of pounds are being ploughed into infrastructure, with faster train lines, upgraded bus and rail stations and an increased capacity for commuters.
New housing is being built to help more people get on to the housing ladder, and existing homes will see improvements and renewals so everyone can feel proud of where they live.

Safer streets
More police officers are being recruited to make the streets safer and there’s been significant investment in schools and hospitals.
Heritage and culture are a treasured part of life in the UK, which is why the Government is investing in museums, galleries and natural gems such as canals and walking trails.
Levelling Up is an ambitious plan in terms of scale – it’s long term, wide ranging and will reach so many areas where people feel like their town or city is falling behind more pros perous places. Whether it’s building a brand new hospital in Liverpool, funding start-ups in Derry-London derry, boosting Glasgow’s tourism industry or improving the rail network in Mid Wales, every single part of the project has local resi dents at its heart.
