PLYMOUTH Argyle are assessing ‘a number of exciting new options’ as their main shirt sponsor from the 2022/23 season onwards after confirming their longtime partnership with Ginsters is coming to an end.

The League One club will be in a position to share more information with supporters in the coming weeks but have explained that a’ structured selection process is in place’.

The aim is to ensure that the chosen brand ‘aligns with our vision and values as an ambitious club with our local community and fans at our core’.

Argyle are currently League One promotion contenders after a superb season in which Steven Schumacher has built on the excellent work of former manager Ryan Lowe since taking over as manager from him in December.

Attendances at Home Park are at their highest since 2007, when the club were last in the Championship, while the set-up behind the scenes is arguably as good as it has ever been.

In a club statement, Argyle placed on record their ‘sincere gratitude’ to Cornish-based pasty makers Ginsters for their support.

Ginsters first became main shirt sponsors in 2002, taking over from The Herald, and then began a second spell in 2016.

The partnership between Argyle and Ginsters has been one of the best known and longest running in the EFL, and their working relationship is set to continue in new ways.

Argyle chief executive officer Andrew Parkinson said: “Firstly, on behalf of Argyle, I must express my thanks to Ginsters for their dedicated support of our football club for over a decade.

“The decision to end the front of shirt sponsorship at the end of the 21/22 season is not the end of our working relationship, and we look forward to finding new ways to work together moving forward.

“This development represents a really exciting opportunity for the club. One could argue that we have never been in a stronger position in Argyle’s history.

“We have a talented young manager playing exciting, winning football, a focus on bringing talented youngsters from Devon and Cornwall into the team.

“We have an incredibly strong connection with our supporters and the local community, and attendances are at their highest levels since 2007.

“The important thing for us is to ensure that we select the right front of shirt partner to represent Argyle in the current era, and that their philosophy aligns with our own. We will, of course, update supporters when we have made a final decision.”

Argyle have already announced one significant new partnership this year with leading global luxury yacht manufacturers Princess Yachts.

Princess Yachts committed to a significant staff benefits partnership with both the club and Argyle Community Trust.

Argyle will offer over 1,000 opportunities for Princess Yachts staff to attend matches, host team building activities with employees, and provide mascot opportunities and places at half-term courses for Princess employees’ children.

Through the partnership, over £5,000 will be generated for local charity, Plymouth Children in Poverty (PCIP), in addition to 150 team shirts being donated to local school and football youth clubs.
