Will Smith should have floored him

-

SEVERAL letter writers have recently passed comment on the attendance of Prince Andrew at the memorial service for Prince Philip.

Can I add my whole-hearted support for their views?

It is the case that Andrew has not been proved guilty of the offences alleged by a young woman who seems willingly to have been part of a highly unseemly social existence run by Epstein, from which I suggest she could have removed herself at any time were it not for the attraction of the money and privileges that went with it. None of us know the details of the settlement reached but it is certainly the case that the affair was highly distracting during the Queen’s Jubilee year.

May I also comment on the excellent letter from Colin Richey regarding the actions of Will Smith. The fifth-rate comedian had so little skill, wit or decency that he had to resort to making a joke about a lady suffering from a distressing medical condition. The only error Will Smith made was to fail to knock the stupid man out cold.

Finally, can anyone explain why, with the issuing of the fines notices to either 20 people in Westminster who broke the law (or was it one person who did so 20 times?), we are not to be told the names. We, the taxpaying public, fund the generous salaries and pensions of those named and we are entitled to know who has proved themselves unworthy of our largesse so that if they are elected politicians they can be dealt with through the ballot box, and if they are appointed civil servants they can be directed to the Job Centre.

Recent years have shown the level of competence and behaviour displayed by the grey, faceless people who have such an influence on our lives. Clearly they believe themselves to be bullet-proof.

Our Government needs to carry out a serious weeding exercise before the OBEs and knighthoods are dished out.
