Exeter fans quick to snap up tickets for big game

-

EXETER City’s fans have been ‘second to none’ this season - and they are set to pack the Park for the League Two run-in. Tickets are flying out for City’s next home match against Colchester United on Friday, April 15 in a 1pm kick-off.

As of Thursday, April 6, the club has sold almost 6,000 tickets, with almost all seating areas sold out in the ground. There are only a handful of seats in the Stagecoach Adam Stansfield stand, but there is plenty of space is currently available in the Thatchers Big Bank.

It follows the more than 1,000 fans the Grecians took to Newport County last Saturday for the 1-0 win that kept them second in the League Two table.

More than 350 tickets have already been sold for the long trip to Carlisle United tomorrow, with more tickets requested after the initial allocation sold out.

Tickets for the Northampton Town trip on April 30 have also sold out.

“The fans have backed us all season,” manager Matt Taylor said. “They have done it numbers and support and noise generated throughout the season, you’ve all seen the connection between the players and the fans, and the players with a personality and a character to win no matter what. But it goes both ways and they have to be supported and we have been supported fantastically well.

“We have taken big numbers of fans away, but even if there are just ten, they make themselves known, and they are second to none in terms of the noise and support they make. Hopefully we have some full houses and that is full credit to the fans.”

Three of the last four games at St James Park have seen attendances just below the 6,000 mark, a figure not reached since the 4-0 win over Plymouth Argyle in October 2019. But with promotion a real possibility, hopes are high that St James Park will be full as the season draws to a close.
