I have been Victor Meldrew for years!

-

YOUR question on April 19:

‘Are you turning into Another

Victor Meldrew?’ My answer is a resounding NO! According to my family – and probably many of your readers – I have already been like him for most of my life.

How much longer have we got to put up with the antics and thuggery of the BLM movement, the Woke and No Platform brigades, the Politically Correct lot, the Extinction Rebellion lot, and now the Just Stop Oil rabble, the Trans activists and Insulate Britain mob and a Labour front bench who, unlike JK Rowling, are unable with all their education to describe ‘What is a woman?’

In a democracy such as ours, people have a right to peaceful demonstrations, and quite rightly so, but that doesn’t give them the right

to make other people’s lives a living hell who might not share their views.

I’d like to see them take their protests to Russia, China or Belarus and see how they get on there.

The hypocrisy of XR leaders like Emma Thompson, who flies all over the world to tell the rest of us that flying is killing the planet, and the co-founder of ‘Just Stop Oil’ – a student called Hannah Hunt who has allegedly clocked up 50,000 air miles travelling the world, are prime examples of this hypocrisy.

And just one more thing, how on Earth can this Government continue to allow Whitehall civil servants to carry on ‘working from home’ and still continue to pay them London Weighting Allowance? Surely this is fraud!

We seem to be getting our priorities wrong in this country when an issue like having a birthday cake in an unopened Tupperware container in Downing Street causes more furore than the antics of mobs which are bringing this country to a standstill. It’s like a reporter asking Mrs Lincoln: “Yes, but apart from that – did you enjoy the play?”

Let’s get our priorities right!

By the way, I still wear my Victor Meldrew cap with pride.
