TRURO City have wasted no time in making plans for the 2022/23 season by announcing their retained list and four players are leaving the White Tigers.

Rio Garside, Jamie Richards, Dan Rooney and Niall Thompson have all rejected fresh terms with Paul Wotton’s side and told the club they have decided to move elsewhere.

Zac Hartley and Louis Rooney are still in talks with the club with Rooney set to continue his rehabilitation on his road to full fitness during pre-season.

Alex Battle, Owen Bevan, Matthew Burgess and Ollie Tomlinson have all returned to their parent clubs on conclusion of their loan spells with Truro.

A club statement read: “We would like to thank and acknowledge every player who has worn a White Tigers shirt this season.

“To those individual players moving on to pastures new we wish you every success for the future. For those remaining at the football club we look forward to seeing you on your return in preseason.

The club is excited to announce some new signings which will be released in the coming weeks.”

Already contracted for next season are Ryan Brett, Will Dean, James Hamon, Tyler Harvey, Charlie Madden, Andrew ‘Rocky’ Neal, Connor Riley-Lowe and Shane White.

Meanwhile, the 2022/23 Southern League Premier season will start on Saturday, August 6, according to reports.

Truro will again be joined by Tiverton Town in the Premier Division, while Plymouth Parkway will also begin their season that weekend after winning promotion to the division as champions of the Division One South this year.

Southern League Division One will begin a week later on Saturday August 13. That league sees the likes of Bideford and Willand being joined by Western League Premier Division champions Tavistock and runners-up Exmouth Town.

However, Barnstaple Town will not feature having been relegated to the Western League.

The league season for both divisions will finish on Saturday, April 22 with play-off semi-final games pencilled in for Wednesday, April 26.
