Mount Athos can hit great heights

-

MOUNT Athos can put a disappointing Wolverhampton run behind him in the Unibet More Boost’s In More Races Handicap at Kempton.

A long season perhaps took its toll on the five-year-old gelding when he raced keenly and eventually finished fifth behind Intervention.

But a 92-day break from that run can be of benefit and he can return to the form he showed late last year.

He made all over the same course and distance to win by a length from Aratus in November and was only edged out by a short head in a Listed race at Deauville in December.

Up 4lb from that win in November, he can put a line through the Wolverhampton run and previous form shows he can shine when rested after securing a hat-trick of victories with 127day and 161-day breaks in between.

Cracking Gold can make it a hat-trick in the Unibet Support Safe Gambling Handicap.

The three-year-old made an impressive start to his career when making it two from two at Kempton and Lingfield and despite giving weight away to all five of his rivals, he can continue his progression.

Don’t Tell Su can break his duck over obstacles in the Blackmore Vale Hurdle 1867 ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle at Wincanton.

The Paul Nicholls-trained six-year-old won a bumper at Chepstow last April before taking an extended break and was then sent hurdling.

He was narrowly beaten on his return in October by Minella Missile, who subsequently went on to win the Grade Two Trustatrader Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in November.

Last time out he only found Menaggio too good when blundering at the last and the drop in trip from two miles and five furlongs to a mile and seven furlongs can work in his benefit.

Molly Landau has made a promising start to her career under rules and she can use her valuable 7lb claim to guide Stanley Pincombe home in the Respect In Racing Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at Wincanton.

Landau partnered Chris Gordon’s sevenyear-old to win over two and a half miles at Plumpton in November before he was held off by Mammies Boy last time out.

But despite the 8lb rise in the weights from that Plumpton success, Stanley Pincombe can return to the winner’s enclosure.
