Water firm’s community roadshow to visit Budleigh
SOUTH West Water will be bringing its community roadshow to Budleigh Salterton next week to share the company’s planned investments and highlight its latest business plan with local customers and residents.
It is the latest in a series of community roadshows, which have so far seen visits to Torquay, Sidmouth, Lynmouth, Falmouth, Christow and Exmouth. The Budleigh Salterton event on Tuesday will be the seventh, with more on the horizon for 2024.
With a market-stall setup, the event is designed to give customers the chance to talk to South West Water experts about areas such as environmental improvements, increasing drinking water resources and tackling network blockages.
The water company will be showcasing how its five-year business plan will include £2.8bn of investment and create over 2,000 jobs across the region – pinpointing specific investments planned for Budleigh Salterton and its surrounding area.
South West Water says it has already planned £2 million of investment in Budleigh Salterton to help further protect the beautiful local environment from the potential impact of the sewerage network if it becomes overwhelmed. The investment will contribute towards maintaining Budleigh’s ‘excellent’ bathing water quality classification, as assessed by the Environment Agency.
SWW is also exploring opportunities in the area for separating surface water from the sewerage system by 2025, helping reduce the volume of water in the network and help reduce the need for storm overflows.
The Community Roadshow will take place from 12.30pm-4.30pm at the Venture Hall, Moor Lane. Pre-register via the SWW website.
