First MOT to stay at three years
NEW CARS WILL continue to have their first MOT test at three years rather than the planned four years, the Government has announced.
Proposals put forward last year had suggested that changing a car’s first MOT from three years to four years could save motorists £100 million every year. However, the plans have now be scrapped on safety grounds.
The change was set to be introduced later this year, but a Department for Transport survey found that less than half of the people consulted were in favour.
