BMW 8 Series

BMW is preparing a sporting grand tourer to rival the Mercedes S-class Coupé. Engines will be borrowed from the 7 Series; these are six-cylinder diesels and petrols, the most powerful of them with 600bhp, plus a plug-in hybrid. Inside, the 8 Series will have four seats, a well-sized boot, a 10.2in infotainment screen and a long standard kit list. Price from £98,000 (est)
