Struggling to cope, a stressed Stacey turns on husband MartinÉ

- bbc.co.uk/eastenders

Stacey and Martin seem to be Walford’s strongest couple, having snatched the crown from the formerly rock-solid Carters.

The Fowlers have had many ups and downs and have always made it through, together. Each has been the making of the other, and their family of five works a treat.

But, this week, the couple’s happy marriage is shattered when bad news about Arthur sends pregnant Stacey – who once suffered from postpartum psychosis – into a dark and paranoid place.

High-risk

Desperate to know if her young son has got the same heart condition, which recently threatened the life of his dad Kush, Stacey’s stress levels are running high. And, with Martin in prison, she’s got no support and the kids are driving her mad! Fortunately, just as the mum is exploding, snapping at Lily and Arthur’s nan Carmel, who’s only trying to help, Stacey’s husband arrives home restoring a much-needed sense of calm.

Martin’s there to hold his wife’s hand at the specialist appointment, too. Unfortunately, the news isn’t good, and Stacey crumbles as she’s told her little boy is, indeed, at high-risk of inheriting his dad’s serious illness.

Back in the Square, needing someone of his own to lean on, Martin seeks his sister Michelle but as the conversation turns to his worries for his unborn child, Stacey walks in and gets the wrong end of the stick.

As misunderstood Martin battles to make things right with Stacey, matters deteriorate to the point where his furious wife suggests he doesn’t want a baby with her and that he should he leave the house…

Can Martin repair the damage before it’s too late?
