The Apprentice

Another bunch of entrepreneurial wannabes, all with their unique foibles, hang-ups and annoying traits, try to impress Lord Sugar and his sidekicks Karren Brady and Claude Littner to avoid being fired and make it through each round until the final. Their first task is to design and launch a burger range. Will they relish it?

Lord Sugar is ruthlessly rooting through Britain’s best potential business partners once more in the 13th series of

The Apprentice as he assesses which of 18 budding entrepreneurs should secure his £250,000 investment.

Meaty start

Thankfully, his trusted aides Karren Brady and Claude Littner will shadow the candidates through every task, kicking off with an opening challenge that sees them create and launch a range of burgers...

‘They get their teeth into the fast food industry to make and sell burgers to hungry Londoners,’ says Karren. ‘It’s a test of creative skill and how to sell for a profit.’

Later tasks see the candidates running doggy day care, selling robots and refurbishing bedrooms in a top hotel.

‘There’s no accounting for taste because the rooms they designed didn’t even look one star,’ laughs Karren, who also followed a team as they ran walking tours in Bruges. ‘They were measuring things on a map with a biro not a ruler so you can imagine what happens!’

However, Claude and Karren are quick to pull up a candidate who steps out of line.

‘There was a bad row between the girls this year and I didn’t like that,’ fumes Karren. ‘There’s no place for that sort of behaviour in business.’
