TrappeD in the DeserT!
Ex-Special forces soldier ant Middleton must help a crack team escape from the wilderness
ant Middleton has battled his way through the most challenging environments during his British Army career, yet the ex-Special Forces tough guy faces his hardest assignment to date in C4’s new reality series.
In this week’s first programme, Ant and a team of five engineers are stranded in the middle of the Mexican desert, following the simulated crash of a jumbo jet.
Using wreckage from the aircraft, the group must build a vehicle to transport them back to civilisation – but before they escape the inhospitable desert, Ant must teach them to survive!
‘I’ve been out on operations in the Middle East with the armed forces,’ explains Ant, who has also appeared in C4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins and Mutiny. ‘But the heat in Mexico was worse than anything I’ve experienced.
‘If you’re out in the sun during the middle of the day you soon get into trouble. Their mission is to build a vehicle, mine is to keep them alive while they do it.’
The engineers, who include Bethan Murray and Lyndon Poskitt, face a race against time to construct a vehicle before they run out of food and water.
Perilous situations
‘These people are all talented,’ says Ant. ‘But they’ve never experienced an environment like this. There were hairy moments!’ Future programmes see Ant taking different teams of engineers into other hostile environments, such as a remote mountain region.
‘The show is about survival,’ continues Ant. ‘But it’s also a celebration of engineering, because the teams achieve some amazing things and are pushed to the limit in every way imaginable!’
