Strictly Come Dancing
Q AWhy did you decide to do Strictly Come Dancing? It’s a great opportunity and I really wanted to learn something new. I’m not a natural dancer; I’m a blank canvas that’s raring to go! It’s about the whole process of being part of the show and working with my professional dance partner, Nadiya Bychkova. Q Bonnie Langford, who plays your mum, Carmel, in EastEnders, has been dancing on stage since she was a child. Has she given you any tips?
A Oh, Bonnie’s so excited for me. When she found out I was doing Strictly, she climbed on me, sat on my shoulder and said: ‘That’s good, but we need to work on it’. So I know she’ll help.
I’ll be doing EastEnders at the same time, so if we get time between filming, she can teach me a few moves. Q Your EastEnders co-stars, including Kellie Bright, Tameka Empson and Jake Wood, have done Strictly.
What advice did they give you? A They’ve all been on the Strictly Come Dancing journey and their faces light up whenever we’ve talked about it, so I really want to soak up and enjoy the experience in the same way they have. Tameka [Kim Fox], whose partner was Gorka, said to me: ‘You’ve got to go out there and own that Strictly dancefloor, that dancefloor is yours’. I thought that was great advice. Q As Kush, we’ve often seen you without your shirt on around Albert Square.
Can we expect that on Strictly? A It seems like everybody wants to see Kush take his top off! I might save that until a bit later in the competition… Q How far do you hope to go in the competition? A We’re a close bunch, so the thought of any one of us going is horrible. I’d like to make it to Halloween week, so I can get really
dressed up!
