Phillip Schofield invites celebs and experts to help him test the latest must-have Christmas gifts in the new threepart series. Find out what to buy hard-toplease family members, and discover what are the most-recommended toys and the best value festive food.

Q What’s the inspiration for your new series? A I’m a real Christmassy person and we wanted to help people with no clue about the best presents to buy and tell them about this year’s fads and trends. There are also ideas for last-minute shopping and we test out toys, because the last thing you want to do is spend a fortune on something the kids will play with for two minutes. Q Which sort of products have you been testing? A Drones, Lego, perfume, robots… even Christmas lunch in a box, for people who don’t want to do the washing up! I stayed late one night to play with a toaster that cooks bacon! Q Tell us about the celebs who appear in the series? A Stacey Solomon tested some games for families to play at Christmas, while Jonathan Ross looked into the phenomenon that is unicorns, which is a massive trend at the moment. Q What was the strangest gift idea you came across? A If you’re close to your cat there’s a silicone brush that you stick in your teeth – it means you can lick your cat the same way your cat would lick you! Q What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? A A few years ago, I said to my wife, Steph, that I wanted a flagpole, so she bought one!

I just thought it would be cool. We put a ‘Santa Please Stop Here’ flag on it every Christmas. Q Do you exchange gifts with your This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby? A Yes, she’s a very good present buyer and starts buying things in April. But, of course, you can be good with gifts when you start early! Q What’s your top tip for Christmas giving? A If you buy something for the kids that needs building, make it before Christmas. On Christmas morning, you can give them the finished present rather than being stuck on the living room carpet with 28,000 pieces of something while everyone else is having a lovely time!
