Jac (Rosie Marcel) is struggling to cope this week. When patient Grace insists on Jac personally doing her op, can Jac find her inner determination to save her life? And can Fletch (Alex Walkinshaw) get to the bottom of what’s really eating Jac?

Surgeon Matteo Rossini recently split from estranged wife Nina Karnik after she admitted she’d once had him investigated over their son Nico’s disappearance. Matteo has since found out she’s pregnant with his baby, and this week he vows to be a part of the child’s life.

‘Matteo does that very Italian male thing of just wading in and making lots of big decisions, but Nina’s having none of it,’ says

Ayesha Dharker, who plays her.

That’s when medical director Nina drops a bombshell – she’s moving to Amsterdam to be with her sister and her family! Matteo reckons if Nina stays, they could co-parent. But will Nina go for the idea? After their five-year-old son went missing in 2007, their lives have been so full of pain, is it better she and Matteo remain apart?

Nina and Matteo (Christian Vit) unite as they treat Scott, a heart patient, who’s about to become a father. Nina believes when they lost Nico she also lost Matteo emotionally, and she doubts they can raise a child until he can truly open up about his feelings.

But when Scott’s condition deteriorates, Matteo is suddenly hit by grief for his lost son.

‘Nina’s been waiting for Matteo to be honest with her,’ says Ayesha. ‘After all they have been through, it seems there’s still enough love there to base a whole new cycle of life on.’
