Married at First Sight
Why Stephanie said ‘I do’ to Ben, even though she'd never met him...
een to find her ideal partner and tie the knot, police officer Stephanie was one of 4,000 singletons who applied to let a team of professionals find her a perfect partner and marry a complete stranger in the C4 show which returns for a third series.
The 32-year-old was delighted when she was selected and told her ideal match had been found.
‘I’ve been proposed to and have got a couple of engagement rings,’ she says. ‘But it’s a running joke among my friends that
I get so close but never actually make it. Now I want science to pick someone for me because I’m clearly not doing a very good job myself!’
Good match
After five weeks of thorough and rigorous analysis, and interviews with the willing applicants, the experts, including therapist Jo Coker, psychologist Martin Hald and biological anthropologist Dr Jake Dunn matched Stephanie with Ben, a quantity surveyor.
Six weeks after being matched, Stephanie and 36-year-old Ben came face-to-face for the very first time to say their vows in a register office in London and much to the delight of the couple’s friends and family, the pair seemed instantly smitten.
‘I feel like we’re people who already know each other and we’re just catching up,’ says
Stephanie on her wedding day. ‘We’re getting along like we’ve known one another for years.’
