Jane & Friends
Jane McDonald returns for fun, chat and a song or two!
Jane McDonald is rounding up her celebrity mates for another singing spectacular. First up, former EastEnders star John Partridge and Rose Royce’s lead singer, Gwen Dickey, are among those joining Jane to belt out a tune.
Jane McDonald is putting the sparkle into Friday nights again with the second series of her glitzy, all-singing, all-dancing entertainment show, Jane McDonald & Friends.
‘It is just fantastic, escapist telly with big stars, a fabulous stage and songs that provide something for everybody,’ she says. ‘People watch it with their granny or their kids; there’s nothing offensive and that’s lovely. We just have a party.’
The singer and presenter will dig out her sequins and high heels to belt out a variety of hits with help from celebrity pals such as, in the first episode, former EastEnders star John Partridge, soul band Rose Royce’s Gwen Dickey and the cast of Chicago.
Russell Watson, Collabro, Billy Ocean and Alexandra Burke will appear later in the run. But Jane admits one star was her stand-out favourite…
‘One of the best moments for me was having Lee Mead on. Just seeing him sing to the camera was breathtaking – that guy is a star,’ she says.
The new series also finds her paying tribute to unsung heroes by surprising them with some much-deserved treats.
‘To meet these angels is humbling,’ she says. ‘One lady runs a bhangra drums group. She’s a pioneer for Asian women. I had a go on the drums and it was empowering. But I get emotional and always have to have tissues on set!’
