The investigation into the killing of the teen, who vanished on New Year’s Eve 1999, soon led DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker) and DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) to a number of lead suspects.
Partners in crime?
The suspects included four old school friends: James Hollis (Kevin McNally), Dr Tim Finch (Alex Jennings), Chris Lowe (James Fleet) and Pete Carr (Neil Morrissey) – a salesman who was fatally stabbed by a vigilante midway through the series, after details of the case appeared on social media.
As the inquiries continued, the two detectives unearthed a twin sister, two bitter ex-wives and a troubled, crossdressing son. Someone knows who killed Hayley on that fateful night – but can they get to the truth?
‘We’ve been looking closely at the four men,’ says Sanjeev. ‘But it could be anyone, or more than one person and others covered it up. As you can see, I am being utterly noncommittal!’
