Anew bunch of famous faces will be bracing themselves for the heat of the kitchen as Celebrity MasterChef returns.

Over the next six weeks, 20 celebrities will be vying to become MasterChef 2018 champion under the guidance of John Torode and Gregg Wallace.

Hoping to impress in this first heat are actor

Keith Allen, presenter

Michelle Ackerley, former rugby player

Martin Bayfield, Union

J star Josh Cuthbert and

Carol Decker, lead singer of 1980s band T’Pau.

This isn’t the first time Carol has met Gregg. In 2007, they teamed up for singing contest Just the Two of Us, but were out in the first round.

‘Gregg and I clashed a bit on that show, so I thought this would be his chance to get his own back,’ says Carol, 60. ‘But he was super-sweet, though my cooking is better than his singing!’

First up will be the Mystery Box task.

‘I can do spaghetti bolognese, chilli and burgers, so when I saw mince, I was relieved,’ says Carol. Despite having played in front of thousands, Carol says MasterChef was the most nerve-racking thing she’s done.

‘I felt under real scrutiny with the cameras on me, and I didn’t want to make a fool of myself,’ says Carol. ‘It was challenging – but great fun.’
