Henry’s hired at the Rovers but attempts to scam his bosses
With heavies breathing down his neck for cash, Henry’s given hope when he and Gemma are given jobs at the pub by Johnny and Jenny. It’s not the wage packet that Henry’s banking on, however. He’s about to pull an insurance scam to pay off the money he owes his ex’s parents for the wedding!
‘It’s quite dark, but it’s desperation,’ says George Banks, who plays him. ‘He needs money now and it’s the last resort. If he doesn’t come up with it, he’s a dead man.’
After Johnny and Jenny declare a lock-in on opening day, Henry’s sent to the cellar to change a barrel, which is when his ‘fall’ happens. The happy couple are horrified to find Henry with a broken arm and a plan to sue…
‘Henry’s risked a lot to be with Gemma,’ says George. ‘He’s turned his back on his family, and the idea of that ending over money is devastating. In his eyes, his dishonesty is in order to save his relationship.’
