The Time It Takes

Saturday, 5.40pm BBC1 Quiz Show

-

Fingers on buzzers for a new quiz show hosted by This Morning’s Alison Hammond and comedian Joe Lycett. Contestants must answer bizarre time-based questions such as ‘What task takes longer – unwrapping every Werther’s Original in a family pack or completing a Rubik’s cube underwater?’ The winner will be in with a chance of bagging a dream getaway.

What takes longer – filling a pint glass with baked bean juice by filtering beans through a pair of tights, or unwrapping 20 boiled sweets? These are some of the questions contestants ask themselves on The Time It Takes, the BBC’s new quiz show.

This Morning host Alison Hammond joins forces with comic Joe Lycett for the Saturday teatime show.

Light-hearted

‘Have you ever seen Game of Thrones? Well, it’s nothing like that – it’s a quiz show,’ jokes Joe, who’s co-hosting the new eight-part series. ‘It’s so simple and silly.’

Joe is the quizmaster while Alison acts as the game’s referee and chief timekeeper. Once each player has chosen a task, they must try to answer as many general knowledge questions as possible in the time it takes for their chosen task to be performed. The overall winner is in with a chance to win a luxury holiday, while losers head home with a tea towel! ‘I often perform the timed tasks, but sometimes we have footage of a celebrity performing them. You’ll see Ainsley Harriott using a leaf blower to blow a football into a football net,’ laughs Alison.

Other stars tackling tasks this series include Joel Dommett, Debbie McGee, Paul Chuckle and Jess Wright.

‘The celebrities and I have to do the tasks to the fastest of our ability,’ says Alison.

‘No one’s ever trusted me to be in a Saturday night show before, but it’s been amazing!’
