Devoted Cain keeps vigil at Moira’s bedsideé
Life has turned on a sixpence for Cain Dingle. Last week, he was furious with Moira, having decided his wife, who he’s divorcing, was having an affair with DI Malone.
But a telephone call changed everything when the jealous mechanic learnt that Moira had been the victim of a hit-and-run!
Now he doesn’t know if he’s coming or going. Having spent hours at the hospital, when Moira’s son Matty leaves, Cain claims he’s going, too, only to double back to Moira’s side… ‘He pretends to go to the toilet,’ explains Jeff Hordley, who plays him. ‘Matty goes off, then Cain sneaks back into the room and sits with her all night.
Desperate
‘We see in that moment that he’s still got massive feelings for Moira. He can’t live without her. Whether that means in a relationship or not is not the issue – it’s more a case of he doesn’t want her to die.’
The next day, desperate Cain plagues the nursing staff for answers before nipping off to check on things at Butlers.
He’s stunned when he finds Nate there talking to Moira’s business partner, Rhona, and learns they’re in cahoots. As Cain erupts in anger over the secret produce deal they’ve struck behind Moira’s back, Nate’s boss Kim turns up in a similarly angry state, declaring all-out war!
Cain could do without the drama right now and soon returns to the hospital to be with Moira. Will he live to regret not telling his wife that he’s still madly in love with her?
