Charlie Fairhead resumes his duties as clinical nurse manager this week and his stand-in, Jacob Masters, is on pins!
Jacob (Charles Venn) still feels guilty for reporting Charlie (Derek Thompson) to their superior Fletch (Holby City star Alex Walkinshaw) after he made mistakes while gripped with grief for wife Duffy.
But Jacob doesn’t have to face Charlie alone. Clinical lead Connie Beauchamp is on hand for moral support! The ex-lovers have
been working intimately together on a number of
patient cases recently. Could romance blossom once again?
‘Connie and Jacob are working well together. So things might warm up between them!’ teases Amanda Mealing, who plays Connie. ‘They have such history, so Charles and I make sure that history is still played, even if they’re just passing each other a file!’
Elsewhere, Charlie returns to the nursing side of his job with ease. The admin side of the job, however, is another matter! While treating gambling addict Kaz, Charlie draws on his own painful experiences to help her. But as his managerial to-do list gets longer, Charlie has to turn to Jacob for help.
Struggling
By the end of his shift, Charlie realises that it’s time for change. He
makes a shock announcement
to Connie and Jacob about his future at the ED… Will his decision bring Connie and Jacob closer together? ‘I think Jacob is the only person Connie’s really loved,’ says Amanda. ‘I hope at some point they can rekindle that. It’s just that once you shut the door, it’s really difficult to open it again… Watch this space!’
