Joanna Lumley’s Unseen Adventures Tuesday, 9pm ITV
From India to China, Cuba to Mongolia, Ab Fab star Joanna Lumley has been on numerous worldwide adventures for her television travelogues.
Now, in a new three-part series, she’s sharing some of her highlights, plus previously unseen footage.
‘Travel is my passion, it’s in my blood, and I’m thrilled that I’ve been able to take viewers on so many of my journeys,’ says Joanna. ‘What you see on screen takes weeks to shoot and months to edit and we didn’t have time to show everything we filmed.’
Behind the scenes
As well as showing previously unseen scenes, Joanna will be giving her own insight into the filming process and some of the challenges she had to contend with, including overcoming
language barriers, filming in freezing seas and working with unpredictable animals such as a very friendly dog in China! The series begins with a look back
at her travels in Japan, Hong Kong,
China, Mongolia and Siberia.
‘Japan had intrigued me for a long time,’ says Joanna. ‘It proved to be such a fascinating place with a unique
mixture of ancient classical culture and razor-sharp modern technologies.’
One of her other highlights was filming the seals when she visited Lake Baikal in Siberia.
‘As presenters, we’re always
asked to join in with whatever activity is going on,’ explains Joanna. ‘Sometimes I’m not so keen, but one thing I never mind is anything to do with animals. It was thrilling to help feed the beautiful seals in Baikal.’
