John Barrowman joins the medical drama this week playing charismatic locum Drew Nicholson-heath. Cameron’s concerned that Drew is out to expose him, so he resorts to his old tricks of playing the hero. But when he’s almost caught out, Cameron gaslights a colleague into thinking she made a mistake. Meanwhile, a desperate Sacha wants to give Essie a reason to keep on living and does something completely out of character…
Q Cameron has recently stepped up his sinister campaign. Why is he so desperate to prove himself?
A Cameron’s developed this sense that he’s pushed aside a lot – he aspires to gain recognition without actually deserving it. It’s this thirst for praise and acknowledgement that has taken Cameron into this dark and dangerous territory where he’s now putting patients at risk to make himself the hero. He’s definitely getting enjoyment out of playing God.
Q Dancing on Ice judge John Barrowman guests this week as locum doctor Andrew ‘Drew’ Nicholson-heath. What does Cameron make of him?
A Cameron is instantly wooed by Drew. He knows this man is an impressive doctor and he discovers that he’s a headhunter. Cameron’s all out to impress, but, being the average doctor he is, things don’t go his way…
Q What does Cameron do and what happens next?
A Drew is observing on AAU when Cameron makes a diagnosis but
he needs a CT consult to confirm it. Nicky Mckendrick [Belinda Owusu] shows up
and disagrees – and she gets to assist in theatre. Nicky does a great job. However, when Cameron’s alone with the
patient, he
tampers with
the stitches
Nicky’s put in. And he makes sure Drew hears all about her ‘mistake’. Cameron then discovers Drew wanted Nicky to go for a high-paying job but she’s already turned it down. He puts himself forward – and is rejected! Angry, Cameron takes his frustration out on Drew’s car in the car park!
Q Will Cameron ever get his comeuppance?
A I don’t think Cameron
intended to become this terrible person but he started down this dark path and now he’s gone too far down it. We will have to see if he gets his comeuppance. Does
Cameron get worse? All I’ll say is I don’t think
he gets any
better!
