The gloves ARE OFF!

Old enemies Rupert Everett and Piers Morgan come face to face...

-

Rupert Everett and Piers Morgan didn’t exactly hit it off when they appeared on Comic Relief Does the Apprentice back in 2007.

Actor Rupert walked off the show after one day and, recalling the experience years later in an interview, described the Good Morning Britain presenter as ‘pathological’ and ‘slobby and elephantine’.

So you’d imagine the usually fearless Piers might approach this week’s Life Stories interview with the veteran star of films including Another Country and My Best Friend’s Wedding with some trepidation!

‘Rupert has abused me in public, in the most spectacularly eloquent manner!’ laughs Piers.

‘I thought it was time to put him in front of me and read out to him all the terrible things he said about me! We have a good laugh about that.’

From Rupert’s career as an actor and a phase in pop music to his friendship with Madonna and affair with Paula Yates, there’s no shortage of material for Piers to delve into.

And since the 61-year-old actor, who has published two memoirs, is famously outspoken, notably about the effect coming out as gay had on his Hollywood career,

Piers should have no trouble getting him to open up.

Unguarded

‘Rupert is a great raconteur, and at the stage in his career where, honestly, I don’t think he cares about who he upsets or his Hollywood career,’ says Piers of his guest, who recently directed and starred in The Happy Prince, a film about Oscar Wilde.

‘He was ready to spray-gun everybody and everything, and be totally honest. So it’s aclassic interview!’
