Bring back GRO records by email

-

I have to say how much I loved being able to receive birth and death records via email from the GRO. Twenty years ago, I moved to the west coast of the United States, so I am almost 6,000 miles away from England. One of the consequences of this is the amount of time that mail from the GRO takes to get to

me can be mind-numbing. It is usually about eight days, but over the Christmas period this goes up to about 18-22 days. However, no matter what time of year, about one-in-20 letters from the GRO takes between 40 and 48 days! Peter Forkes, by email Editor replies: The temporary email service offered by the GRO was part of an ongoing trial. Let us hope that they deemed it successful and will bring it back!
