A HOLIDAY INCIDENT
The passengers crossing for the Easter holidays to Ireland witnessed an amusing incident at Holyhead. A man announced his intention of having a bathe in the north-western harbour, and commenced to undress near the express steamer. The railway police endeavoured to restrain him, and the would-be Easter plunger pretended to be persuaded, but as soon as the police let him free, he took a “header” from a height of about 30ft. Large crowds rushed to the side of the quay, and it was thought that he was endeavouring to commit suicide, but after being under water for some time, he got to land and was taken to the waiting room. It transpired that at one time he was a renowned high diver and swimmer.
