Dating a 1900ish Sunday School outing group photo bit.ly/ 2lghQ4o I believe this was taken around 1900, probably in Kent. It won’t be possible to work out the location, but any help dating it? You wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of the two older ladies in the front row would you? GClark40

Thomas Alexander Barnet bit.ly/ 2kwIaTL Can anyone help trace my wife’s great grandfather – Thomas Alexander Barnett born c1862 and married to Evelina Starkenburgh? I believe they were both born in India and they lived and died there. They had eight children, all of whom emigrated to various parts of the globe and who are now deceased, but I have no information regarding their occupations or residence (other than the general area of Madras). I can find no trace of them, their siblings or parents.

Any ideas/research pointers would be most welcome. finnerty

Adoption in the 1930s!? bit.ly/ 2liGFwl If a child was born to an unmarried mother in 1929, would it have been possible for the child to have been bought up by the brother of the unmarried mother and his wife without going through the authorties? This would have been in Hull, East Yorkshire. The child is now an elderly person who is trying to find out the identity of her father if at all possible. Birth certificate does not hold a father’s name. Would some kind of financial arrangements have had to be made by the father at that time to the mother for the child’s care? Any guidance would be appreciated. Millfield64

John George Jackson bit.ly/ 2lOkLPc I’m looking for the birth registration for my maternal great grandfather, John George Jackson, born c1848 in the Annfield Plain, Durham area. His mother was Mary Ann Jackson; a single lady. I’ve purchased the birth certificate for John Jackson born 1847 in the September Quarter Durham RD and this is not him. The John George Jackson born on 6 November 1847 in Leadgate, Lanchester RD, is not him.

The 1851 and 1861 censuses have him in Annfield Plain with his mother. I’ve no baptism either. Any ideas please? katebenn

Driffold Lunatic Asylum, Maney, Sutton Coldfield bit.ly/ 2liOK46 I have a missing ancestor, Ann Molesworth née Marston, born in Halesowen between 1789-96, who was widowed in January 1841. She lived in Birmingham all her married life, and died in Deritend in 1874. I can’t find her in the 1851 census.

However, in Driffold Asylum, there is a widowed female, AM aged 58 (born 1793) in 1851. Could this be her? Does anyone know where I might find patient records of this asylum? It does not feature in Ancestry’s database, nor, that I can see, in The National Archives. She was poor, so if anyone knows if the patients at Driffold were only private ones, that would certainly exclude her. Brummie on Exmoor
