Irish Uprising 1916 bit.ly/ 2waJTFI My husband’s grandfather was involved in the 1916 Easter Uprising and was subsequently a prisoner in Wakefield Prison (1916), and later at Wormwood Scrubs and Northampton Prison (1920). Does anyone know where I could find out more about his imprisonment and possibly his records? Sandra Martha Griffiths bit.ly/ 2wDOC5B I’m trying to locate Martha Griffiths, born approximately 1850-51. She married Edward James Hughes in April 1876 at Chester aged 25. Her father is named as Henry Griffiths.

On the 1881 census, under her married name, Eliza’s place of birth is given as ‘Holt, Cheshire’. She is living in Sandycroft, Wales.

On the 1891 and 1901 censuses Eliza is a widow and her place of birth is ‘Malpas, Cheshire’. On both of these records, she is living at 3 Allens Court, Chester.

I’m can’t find Eliza on the 1861 or 1871 censuses and wondered if anyone here could help? Any advice would be gratefully received. cheerily John Durrans and Mary Speight bit.ly/ 2vmUBr6 John Durrans was born in 1826 in Southowram, Yorkshire, and married Mary Speight in 1855 in Halifax, Yorkshire. Their children were Charles Inman, Sarah, Frances Mary, Albert Edward, Joseph, Annie and Emily.

I can find them as a family as far back as 1871, but then sometime in the 1880s Mary took all the children (apart from Sarah, who had died) to America. I have found the family living in Salt Lake City.

Various online trees state that John died in 1901 in Bradford. However, I believe that Mary married another man named Thomas Hill Green in 1879.

Could John have died earlier or perhaps Mary married bigamously? It’s not tree- changing information, just a matter of interest. janmlawson Patrick Gleeson’s Spanish ancestry bit.ly/ 2wLS4uh My ancestor Patrick Gleeson was born in County Limerick, Ireland, in about 1839. His parents were Laurence Gleeson and Johanna Baragry/ Barragry. Does anyone know of a way this police officer could be identified?

Some old, but reasonably reliable, family stories have it that Patrick had recent Spanish ancestors – probably his great grandparents or closer. How would I go about proving, or disproving, this claim?

Any help, whether in the form of information or some guidance/ direction, would be immensely appreciated as I would really like to know for sure whether or not I truly do have Spanish ancestry. cunneen_ researcher Policeman bit.ly/ 2wtBxLD Is there any way of identifying the policeman in the picture above? The only thing I know about him is that he was a relative of my grandfather, RFC Jones ( born in London in 1897). Any suggestions/ ideas would be greatly appreciated. Suddes
